It’s time for Open Studios again – come along and see what I have been creating in the studio – it’s full of work ready to fire after the summer heat. (I can’t fire my wood kiln when it’s hot and dry in summer.)
I’ve been creating a new range, fired in the small electric kiln, and it has been quite a journey – lots of testing of clay and glazes, and I’m really happy with the results. I’ve also made some to put in the wood kiln, but you will have to wait for those…
I’ve done a few art performances with the #toomanywords crew now, and you’ll be pleased to hear we have another one planned!
An art performance is one done out in a public place, to enable anyone to see the work behind our art – we normally stay in our studios working away in private, but here we bare our souls, and let you in to the joy of creation.
On 17th November, we will be at the newly opened West Gippsland Arts Centre in Warragul, helping them celebrate at their opening festival http://www.wgac.com.au
We will be performing a sculpture in clay – and we would like to invite you to take part on it! Come along and see what’s happening, and make a figure to add to our sculpture. No experience necessary, just lots of enthusiasm!!
Just returned home from the ClayGulgong conference and was honoured to be selected to exhibit my sculptural piece ‘Stream of Knowledge’ in the Emerging Artists/World Stage exhibition curated by Marta Donaghey Head Curator of the Contemporary Ceramics Centre, London. It was a pleasure to be amongst my peers, mentors and those who I admire greatly.
Open Studios West Gippsland is almost upon us again! April 7 & 8th 2018 is the date – from 10am to 5pm all weekend the artists will be opening their studio doors to welcome you. There will be demonstrations, displays of work and insights in the way we work and how we get our inspiration.
Most of the studios are not generally open to the public – so it’s like a private insight into our lives. Come along and be part of it.
For full information go to for a downloadable map and information on the artists. On the day, you pay $5 at the first studio which gives you access to all studios, all weekend. This is a self guided tour, but the map is really good!
I will be showing my ceramic sculptures, and I have lots of new domestic ware in the making – but not yet fired. There will be a display of painting and sculpture and I’ll show you around the wood fired kiln and explain how it works. Look forward to seeing you all…
